When you need this form
Rope access, swing stages, boom lifts and facade work all drop things. Before a technician goes over the edge, the ground below has to be closed off with cones, barriers, spotters and signage, and the setup checked. Public liability sits directly under the drop zone, so head contractors and building managers usually will not release the site until the zone is set and recorded.
One photo of the barricaded footpath, taken at the time, is worth more than a signed method statement. GPS ties the setup to the address, the timestamp ties it to the shift, and the sign-off names the person who checked it. If a pedestrian complains or an object falls, you can show the zone existed and who verified it.
What good looks like
- Zone boundary described by street, entry point and affected pedestrian path.
- Barriers, cones, tape and signage listed as actually deployed, with photos.
- Spotter assigned and briefed, with name and contact recorded.
- Overhead risks checked: drop zone, wind conditions, tie-off and tool tethering.
- Zone dismantled and signed off once the facade work is complete.

Public exclusion-zone setup, answered
Is this a PDF or Word template?
Neither. It is a live form: your crew opens it on their phones, ticks it through, attaches photos and signs on the glass. Every submission is timestamped, GPS-pinned and stored as proof.
What is a public exclusion zone?
It is the ground area closed to the public below facade or height work, controlled with barriers, signage and a spotter. It protects pedestrians from dropped tools, water and debris.
Do window cleaners need exclusion zone records?
Building managers and head contractors usually ask for them before high-rise or facade work starts. A photographed, signed setup record is often the gate to being allowed on site at all.
Can I buy just this one form?
Forms ship in packs, from $99 one-time with GST included. Or get every form, this one and 276 more, plus Eaco AI on the $29 a month plan.
